The Vessel Collection
How do we receive our circumstances? How can we actualize our fullest potential while maintaining our peace? These are the questions at the heart of Zoë Pawlak’s Vessel artworks. More than object portraiture, these are pieces emblematic of the body; both whole and capable of holding more; cracked open, or ready to take in ideas and energy.
The centred objects hold a place of honour, while merging two distinct energies: the outside forces and the internal body of the vessel.
Like the vessels, our bodies are holding spaces for all that flows through us, from external pressures to embodied emotions. Each painting depicts a familiar vessel — a bowl, cup, or vase rendered in the style of traditional portraiture. Pawlak digs deep into her expert use of colour, texture and composition to orient herself, while elevating the vessel as a space for stillness and potential.
