A focus on shifting qualities of light, compressing notions of scale, time, and location produces works that evoke landscape, rather than simply report it. 

Pawlak employs emotive color combinations that extend the sky and land, are both motionless and moving and yet locate us directly in the center of ourselves and hold us still and up close to a present moment of reprieve.
